Remarks of President Pertini at Italian State Dinner

This is the fourth page of an English translation of Italian President Alessandro Pertini's speech that was delivered to guests of a State Dinner hosted by President Ronald Reagan on March 25, 1982. The dinner was held in the State Dining Room. During toasts, Pertini delivered the entire speech in his native Italian, while English-speaking guests followed along with the English translation in this program. In this portion of the speech, Pertini commends the sacrifices made by the United States in defending liberty in Europe, and speaks of Italy's relationship with the European Communities. As executive chef from 1966-1987, Haller oversaw the menus for over 250 State Dinners at the White House.
